Q: what are the recalls on a 2000 honda accord lx? i heard there is an extended warranty on the tranny?
is that upto a 100000miles or a 109000 miles, im confused. also does not being an original owner affect a recall?
so if i didnt change the tranny oil, does that affect the recall?
A: The recalls and the warranty extension apply to the vehicle, not to the owner so you should be covered if you are under the transmission warranty extension limits of 93 months or 109,000 miles.
Here’s the statement from Honda on the warranty extension:
In certain vehicles, a higher than normal number of
automatic transmissions may have defects in material
or workmanship that could cause premature wear or
failure. To ensure that customers have adequate
warranty coverage, American Honda is increasing the
warranty on the transmission and the torque converter
to 93 months (7 years and 9 months) or 109,000 miles,
whichever occurs first.
There were five recalls on the 2000 Accord for different reasons: one for rear seat belts, one for airbag sensors, one for rear suspension, one for instrument panel lights (V-6 only) and one for a shift interlock problem. You need to call a Honda dealer and give them your vehicle identification number to see if your vehicle is involved in any of them as these recalls do not apply to all 2000 Accords; also, they recalls if they did apply may have been completed before you bought the car.
recalls apply to the car, not to the owner, so if there are any open recalls they will be done at no charge.
the only exclusions of the warranty extension are those that apply to normal warranty–exclusions include a lack of maintenance, damage, accident, abuse etc.
hope that helps
Q: How long are Honda recalls honored?
I have a 98 Honda Accord that now has ignition switch problems. In 2002 Honda put out a recall on the switch. It was never done on this car. This is known because of the lack of a punch mark over the 8th digit of the VIN. My question is, do these recalls expire or are they good until they are performed?
A: Safety recalls are forever. All tech. don’t always punch mark the Vin number. Have the service advisor run a history on your car so you don’t wast your time.
Q: Why does my 1999 Honda Accord stop while I am driving?
Within the past few months my car has been shutting down while driving. Due to the iginition recalls on 1999 Honda Accords I had my iginition switch replaced, but the problem keeps happening. This time instead of cutting off while driving it refuses to start after I get gas. This is the most frustrating thing could someone please tell what the problem is.
A: Modern day automobiles are very complex machines. It is IMPOSSIBLE for someone to give you an answer as to why your car just stops over the Internet other then to say to a layperson such as your self, check your fuses. Beyond that you need to take it to a shop that can diagnose the car using their skills and the proper equipment.
Q: 2004 Honda Accord recall?
Is there any new 2004 Honda Accord recalls? maybe to do with the breaks
A: Not that I have heard of. It had the old recall on a faulty airbag sensor, but you should register your vehicle on Honda Owner Link http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/SEO/HondaRecall.asp and it will keep you up to date on all new recalls.
Q: what are thre recalls on a 98 honda accord?
A: There have been several recalls on the 98 Accord, mostly for headlights and exterior lighting. You should go to the National Highway and Traffic Administration’s data base and look them up to determine which are appropriate for your particular vehicle.

Q: Need information on a honda accord transmission recall…?
I am having transmission problems and just overheard someone saying there was a recall on honda transmissions. I have a 2001 honda accord….how can I find out info about this and whether or not they will replace it?
A: There is not a recall, but there is a warranty extension. Bulletin 02-062 extends the warranty on your 01′ Accord to 7 years and 9 months or 109,000 miles, whichever comes first.
However I have been able to get Honda factory rep. to give full warranty on transmissions to customer with a good service history even past that time/mileage period.
Q: 1998 Honda Accord Transmission Recall?
Hello,
My husband has a 1998 Honda Accord with less than 100k miles. The transmission went out and it is insane what they’re asking to replace it. We’ve heard that a lot of people have had similar problems with the transmissions of this model.
Does anyone know if Honda will fix it? A couple of years ago, my husband received a letter saying something about the transmission so he took it to a dealer and had it “fixed”.
What can we do to get Honda to fix it? Any other suggestions besides replacing the car will be helpful also.
Thanks!
I said LESS than 100K and he’s had all the required maintenance done to it.
A: the recall that applied to this car was for a problem with the possible failure of the gear locking device that keeps the transmission in Park and not allowing the car to roll when its in Park.
The warranty extension that Honda had for automatic transmission failures on the Accords did not apply to this year car. Yes, a lot of Accord owners had transmission problems but those cars were all 2000-2001 models that had a different transmission from the one in your husbands car. Honda extended the warranty on those cars to 7 years or 100,000 miles whichever came first. Almost all of them are beyond the 7 years now.
I agree that the failure is seemingly premature for the mileage and the reputation for reliability that Honda has. I can’t speak for Honda, but you can plead your case to them by calling 1-800-999-1009. If they are able to do anything for you they’ll let you know.
Even if you could get them to pay for a portion of the repair you would save a lot of money. You can get remanufactured transmissions from Honda now and when Honda pays for a part of the repair they usually discount the price of the transmission to the warrranty price which is much less than the regular retail price for the parts. The labor is the same regardless of whether or not Honda participates in the repair.
I can’t hurt to call them to see if they’ll do anything for you.
hope that helps
Q: Repaired a recalled Honda Accord part with my own money?
My windshield wiper motor on my 2003 Honda Accord was broken and so I took it in to my local mechanic last week to get the darn thing fixed. After doing some research AFTER the repair (yes, stupid me…), I found out that there had been a safety recall for this exact part/problem in April of 2008. I was out of the country for all of last year and so I unfortunately didn’t receive the letter from Honda. Excuses, excuses, excuses…
Am I completely out of luck in this situation to get any reimbursement from Honda for getting this part fixed on my own? Granted it was only $70 parts/labor but I sure would have liked to spend that money on something else…
Thanks for your assistance!
A: send the paper work into honda they will reimburse you
Q: 2003 Honda Accord EX-V6- Can I still get service on recalled parts?
I just bought the car and was wondering if anyone knew or could find how long honda performs service on recalls. There was a recall on automatic transmissions back in 04 and I am not sure it was serviced yet. Would they still have to honor the recall now?? Also, my car has 98000 miles and I was wondering if I should have any major services done at 100k to keep the car in good condition. I want it to last a while.
A: Check the V.I.N. at the dealership to see if your car qualifies, and/ or has already been serviced.

I’m looking for a used Accord that’s at least a few years old (2006-ish), but I would like to know which year model had the best reviews, in terms of the least amount of reported problems, recalls, etc.
A: The 4 cylinder has plenty of power,
The LX trim is a great balance of cost vs amenities
Ask for maintenance records
you’ll probably need to replace the tires

I have a 2002 Honda Accord Sedan and I just read that they’ll be doing a recall due to faulty airbags. What should I expect to happen? Will they actually fix my car or replace it with another one just like it? Just curious…i think anyone would hope for a new car!
A: They’re just going to get a safer airbag for the car.
Like the first person said, there’s a 95% you won’t get a new car.
