Q: Are some 5g honda preludes faster than others?
Ive been test driving honda preludes 99-01 and some of them feel faster than others and they are all stock. Like some hit vtec harder than others, what does that mean?

A: its all about care. oil is critical with these engines. Keep them clean over time and topped off. And the VTEC operates via oil pressure. Hell if the oil is low the VTEC won’t even engage! And if the oil is overfull the car will feel sluggish.

Q: Are Honda Preludes considered sports cars to insurance companies?
Im looking for a Honda, and i keep finding Preludes, i love the car but i have been told i cant get one because they are considered sports cars and sports cars are more on insurance, can anyone help me!? Are they really considered sports cars?

A: Prelude is a sports car and they have very high symbols. But if you have no tickets and accidents you should be able to get around 200 a month, try combining with your home insurance that may save you, check out this company, give them a call, I’ve heard good things about them. metrropol insurance, here is the website. http://www.metropolinsurance.com/ good luck

Q: What are the differences between in the 97 Honda preludes?
I was looking at a 97 honda prelude type SH. nice ride but whats the differences between the SH and the normal prelude? Same motor and both 2 doors and come in a stick? Thanks
Cool, I had a 93 civic and a 92 Accord, loved em both. Just wanted a faster newer Honda.

A: the Type SH car has the ATTS transmission. the ATTS only comes in manual, and they weigh a bit more than the tranny in the base prelude.

base preludes came with the 4sp sportshift auto or the 5sp manual

while both cars use similar engines, the ATTS tranny forces the outside tire to spin faster in a hard corner, helping the car rotate. Good for SCCA and racetracks, but barely noticeable on the street.

the type SH also got a couple goodies inside, stereo stuff mostly.

Q: How does maintenance differ amongst Honda Preludes, Civics and Accords?
Probably for ones that are 1998-2002, in terms of cost and part-replacement timeline?

A: all parts are about the same price for all three….but the the preludes that have an automatic tranny with the sports shifter are prone to tranny problems….the v6 accords have tranny problems too…

the civic is the easiest to work on…and parts are alot easier to find…

Q: Are honda preludes an easy car to get fast?
Just got a prelude and wondering if its worth souping up. Does it have potential?

Thanks

A: What kind of soup? I prefer tomato basil.

It has a huge supply of parts, so it won’t be hard to find turbo setups and the like to give it more power – but you’ll need money. Any car is “easy” to make faster, it’s the money that gets people. They don’t realize how much turbo systems can cost, and how easy it is to absolutely destroy your engine if you don’t get your timing and air/fuel ratios right. I’d say you could completely and utterly destroy your engine in less than 1 minute if you do a hard run and go lean and don’t have properly retarded timing.

Q: How Much Did 89 Honda Preludes cost?
Just wondering if anyone knows how much a manual 89 honda Prelude si cost when it was brand new?

A: $16965 on the Si trims

Q: Are Honda Preludes popular cars in teenagers?
i am turning 16 soon and hope i will get that for me first car. I want the 01 generation look. Do people like Preludes (body style) ? are they nice cars?
How much can i get a used one for if its about 100,000 miles?

A: ehh. i guess there allright look for under 10 grand but if you go just above u can get a MUCH Better car. Think Hyundai Tiburon or Honda Accord Coupe.

Q: do honda preludes 92 -96 have height sensitive control valves on the braking system.?
when the car thinks its loaded down the brakes work harder.

but when you lower the car it thinks its loaded and brakes work too hard and can cause lock ups. does anyone know if preludes have height sensitive control valves on the braking system?

A: the prelude has 4 wheel disc and ABS on some vehicles. The height valve you are asking about is commonly used on trucks such as the Nissan truck with rear drum brakes to balance the braking when the truck bed is loaded down. Honda does not use that type of valve on any of its vehicles.

if you have a problem with lock up check for air in the system first. Then if its locking up after bleeding the air out of the system see if you can identify which wheel is locking up. I would guess you don’t have ABS if you’re locking a wheel up. If you identify what wheel is locking then you can look at the calipers, pads and hydraulics for that wheel to find the problem.

hope that helps

Q: Does anyone know if 13 inch rims fit on Honda Preludes?
The car is a 92′ Honda Prelude, 4 X 4.5 lug nut pattern.

A: no they wont i have a 92 prelude vtec and the 13 inch dont fit over the brake because they come standard with 15s you shouldnt really go smaller the only way they fit is if you take the front brake callipers off

Q: Does the automatic transmission on honda preludes tend to have problems?

A: The prelude never had a V6. You might be thinking of the 2d accord.

They hold up just fine.

Q: how many 1995 honda preludes SE were made?
is it easy to find?
how much should it cost?

A: bout tree fitty

Q: Drivers of Honda Preludes… Is it worth my money?
Does your prelude breakdown, is it good on gas, do you find it drives well? Im planning on buying one and i’d really appreciate some input!

A: I have a 1993 Honda prelude, bought it in 200o had 98,000 miles on it then , only problem i have had mechanically is distributor men tout on it. So they are reliable and good cars and great on gas, mine gets around 30 miles to gallon, she has a few bolt on’s for performance, or i would probably get better gas mileage. husband has 1995 Honda Accord no problems as of yet, and we have a 1991 Honda civic DX with 78,000 miles on it never had problem with it. so yeas in my opinion , they are the best car for the money and last forever, However, I’m sure that there have been a few lemons built, but everyone we know that owns one loves them.

Q: What do you guys or girls think of the 97-01 honda preludes?

A: As long as it is dependable and get me from point a to b, then I say it is a good car. Some people I know have new cars and most of their time is spent fixing them than driving them.

Q: what are your thoughts on honda preludes?
im looking at a 1991 honda relude with about 180,000 miles… do u have experiences with these cars!?! comments on them please

A: my friend has a 1995 prelude and all i can say is damn…they are such good cars performance handing he works…and im a mazda guy ^_^

Q: how much transmission fluid do 88 honda preludes hold?
in litres please

A: In an automatic, it would be 5.7 quarts at assembly, or 2.5 quarts for a drain and fill.

In a manual, it takes 8 quarts of 10W-30 motor oil.
