Q: What years did the Honda Accords have bad transmission?
I am look for a honda accord with a v6. I heard the transmissions were absolutely horrible. Does anyone know what years the honda accords had bad transmissions and if it was just automatic or manual as well.
A: auto only from 98-02 v6. 4 cylinders are affected to a smaller degree. 03-05 v6 may have problems as well.

im looking on craigslist at used honda accords, and it seems that many of them have salvage titles. are insurance companies quick to call an accord a total loss? if this is the case, would one be worth buying if everything was fixed? i know the price should be lower, but other than that, what do you think? any thoughts on hondas or salvage titles in general would be appreciated.
A: This has less to do with the fact that they are totaled out often and more to do with resale value. A body shop sees dollar signs when a “repairable” Accord comes in because they resale value of them is so high. They are much more likely to take the time to bandage a Honda than a Chevy Cobalt. In any case, stay away from salvage cars. There are so many used cars on the market right now, why get one that someone else has already wrecked?
Q: How reliable are Honda Accords and Civics made after 1999?
I am considering buying a pre-owned car, so I am leaning towards a Honda Accord or Civic. Preferrably one that is less then 10 years old with under 120k. My question is, how long do they last? I know they last alot long then my peice of (beep) Ford Taurus SES. Thanks!

A: The only current Honda incentive is for a lease on the LX automatic; but a lease is not a good option for most consumers.

Q: Anyone have any feedback for me on Honda Accords?
Especially older models. I’m looking at a 1992 Honda Accord for my daughter’s first car. It has 170,000 miles on it but I’ve heard that Hondas are a good running car.
A: All i’ve ever owned were Accords. My first was a 1991 Ex model. I loved it. I never had any problems with it. The only things that were “issues” were there because the previous owner did not keep up with the maintenance like they should’ve. That was well over 100,000 miles.
My second Accord was a 2000 Accord EX with leather. That was also a great car, never had any problems…just changed the oil, rotated tires, regular maintenance.
Now I have a 2006 Accord EX with leather (coupe) and same thing, just regular maintenance…thank God, I’ve never had any problems.
Basically you just need to know how the previous owner cared for the car. There might be issues that you’re not aware of that will pop up unexpectedly and can be costly.

A: Accords are not girls cars or guys cars they are very nice thought so you should get it!
Q: Can anyone tell me if Honda Accords have a timing belt, or chain?
I am thinking more and more of buying a Honda Accord, but I’d really like a timing chain, over a belt(very bad experience with belts), I never want to face that night mare again.
I guess Honda owners, or mechanic could best answer this.

A: this is a trick question because older accords used timing belts 80’s – 2002. where as the newer 03+ 4 cylinder uses timing chain, but the newer V6 uses a belt.

Q: Are Honda Accords prone to busted windshields?
My mom is giving me her Honda Accord. She got it in late 2008 and has already replaced the windshield twice due to giant rocks hitting it and make big cracks. Well there is a big crack across the passenger’s side of the glass and she doesn’t want to change it again. We aren’t doing anything wrong but why is it always our car that gets the little nicks on the glass? Does it have something to do with the design of the front of the car and rock bounce off?
A: My experience is that things happen. It may not be the car but the quality of the glass that you have used or the routes that you travel. I had mine for 200k miles and did about 5 total.
