Q: How do I start a new honda car dealership? or other make new car dealership?
I want to start a new honda or toyota car dealership. I cannot find information on their website or on the internet for starting my own. Can anyone supply me with some info?

A: i believe u have to go to school for a business or entrepreneur degree. then go to a honda dealership and talk to them about it and become part of the chain.

Q: Can I file a case against Honda for Car Malfunction?
Recently my 2002 Honda Accord SE malfunctioned resulting in a major accident and my car totalled. I bought this certified car from Honda and have Honda Car extended warranty. I have done my 60K service recently and my car’s current mileage is 66K. Though, I am fortunate to be safe today, I am really stunned by my accident experience. Can I file a case against Honda to know how this can happen and also to make sure nobody else goes through such a trauma?

A: You could file a claim with the better business bureau, but you’re not going to be able to sue corporate. The only way you could get away with suing them was if there was serious injury done to you or a passenger; SERIOUS injury. Depending on exactly what happened and what went wrong, you might be able to file a case against the Honda dealership that serviced your car. But it really does depend on what went wrong, specifically if it was something they regularly check that went wrong. Chances are there’s nothing you can do. If anything, contact a lawyer and tell them everything that happened, and see what they tell you.

Q: What is the actual labor effort to install 2010 Honda Fit car accessories?
I’m shopping for a 2010 Honda Fit and would like to add some Honda accessories.

When I go to the Honda car website to look at the various accessories I can add, there is a note that says the costs shown do not include the installation cost.

I was wondering what is the actual labor effort, in terms of manhours, to install the following accessories:
- Door Edge Film
- Body Side Molding
- Door Visor
- Center Armrest

Thanks for the help!

A: This one is hard. Every dealership is different from the other. From what I can tell is about 4 to 6 hours. but again every dealer is different. In some dealers it’s 80 dollars an hour and in other is 110 dollars that makes a big difference too. In some dealers the flat rate techs do this kind of work and they get paid more $$, In some other dealers they have a pdi tech (pre delivery inspection) that’s on salary not flat rate that will do this kind of work for less $$. I guess it will be better for u to call other honda places were u live and ask and also use that info for your advantage u know like; Hey the other Honda place will do it for less.. That always works . Good luck!

Q: How much does it cost to fix a Honda Car door?
I own a Honda Accord LX. Some one backed into my car and hit the left passenger door. There is a dent in the door and some of the paint has chipped off. The dent isn’t big and the door hasn’t been badly damaged.
This happened in a public parking lot and I never found out who did this so I guess insurance won’t play into this.

How much am I looking at to fix this? Will I be able to deduct this for taxes?

Thanks

A: Little dent 200$ taxes no.

Q: Its time for my car Honda car to be serviced?
Is it better to take it to a honda dealer to do it,
or can my car just as well be taken to a lube shop?

Is the quality the same?

A: As long as the mechanics are ASE certified, it should be just fine.

Q: Should I buy a Honda car or a Chevrolet car?
I have need to buy a new car but dont know what to get. I want a car that is reliable for many, many miles! Should I buy a Honda or a Chevrolet or a Ford? Price of the car doesnt matter as I have loads of money to work with my main consern is not haveing the stress of haveing to get my car repaired all the time! I want to sit in it start it up and drive with confedence!

A: The Honda brand is very reliable, they hold their value, and have good gas mileage. With loads of money, I’d buy a new Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry.

Q: how much does it cost to change timing belt and water pump for Honda car?
My car model Honda civic 2002. 4 engines, 1.7L. Should I change water pump at the same time?

A: The timing belt, water pump, and timing belt tensioner are a pain in the neck to reach, and will all cause major problems if they fail. Expect to spend $200 to $300 on labor to replace any one of the three, or the same labor to replace all 3. Parts will set you back about $100.

Q: Im considering buying a Honda car but which one is better? Civic or Accord?
I am looking between 1996-2003 Honda cars. Thus far I got a little information about Civic and Accord. Civic is a good car, has good engine, but a great disadvantage is the noise. Accord is similar but quiet and smooth. So I want to know more about it from you guys to see if my information is correct. If I’m wrong, please do explain about your experiences. Thanks.

A: the accords are prolly your better choice.it does have a little bigger motor which means alittle more gas, some are 6cyl but a very comfortable ride. But 1 problem all civics and accords AND acuras have is there distributers going flaky on em.ive replaced quit a few.usually not till the 60 70 or 80000 mile range though….also all hondas have an interference motor which means when the cam belt breaks then youve got major probs so best to change it at its recommended interval usually about 90000miles expect to spend about500

Q: Should I have full coverage or liability only for car insurance on a 1997 Honda Accord?
The car is in very good condition with no major problems. The car is almost 13 years old but the re-sale of Honda cars are supposed to be good.

A: It really does depend on what you want to have covered and what the cost is. I also have a 97 Honda and still have both comprehensive and collision coverage. I would definitely keep the comprehensive even if you remove the collision since it covers things like windshield repairs, if you hit a deer, fire, theft, etc. I also have collision since being a Honda it does hold more value and even if it was totaled then I could at least have something to put towards a new car. If you remove collision and you are in an at fault accident or have damage you’re responsible for fixing then your insurance company wouldn’t cover any of it so keep that in mind too.

Since it’s an older car & I have a good record to helps to keep the cost down too so I don’t mind paying a little more for it. But depending on what state you live in it could cost more and not quite balance out for you. There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong answer, its up to the individual.

Q: How to find cheap Honda car parts?
Hi, I have a broken tail light on my Honda Civic 2005 model. The light broken is the right side one on the body of the car. I tried to get it through some retails, but they said it’s like AUD350 the original Honda one. Does anyone know where to find a cheaper one, I don’t mind second hand or duplicate one? Many thanks.

A: grab your local yellow pages, look under” automobile parts-used “. call some people , see what they say.

Q: What would happen if I put diesel instead of gasonline in a Honda car?
by accidnet my brother put diesel instead of the regular gasoline in the Honda Car now the car has stopped..what can be done to fix the problem? I need an answer quick..

A: You already know what will happen.

To fix it you will need to drain and flush the tank, clean or replace the fuel pump, flush the fuel lines and fuel rail, replace the fuel filter, and clean or replace the fuel injectors.

Change the oil and filter too. Chances are that the engine stopped before too much diesel made it into the cylinders, but you may see some smoke when you start ‘er up.

Don

Q: Is it possible to have an automatic vtec? What is the best Honda car to buy(used) that has a vtec?
OR what is the best Honda to upgrade to a vtec? Is there something else that is better than a vtec? What should I look for and what should I ask? I want used because the registration is cheaper and the insurance. This would be my second car.

A: VTEC is a system that improves engine performance by changing the valve timing and lift duration above about 3000 rpm. the VTEC system is an engine system and does not depend on the type of transmission; it is available with both automatic and manual transmissions.

as for the best cars to look for, it depends on what you are looking for in terms of size, fuel economy etc.

the honda civic EX since I think 1998 has VTEC; the Accord 4 cylinders at least since 2000 use a vtec engine. they are both dependabile models and it is really up to you what size car and price range meets your needs

most of the vtec engines say they are VTEC on the valve cover

hope that helps

Q: honda car…………….?
hope this dont sound dumb, but what is a rolling chas?

A: A rolling chassis ?? Car without an engine, and maybe not a tranny, either..

Q: What are the incidents related to Honda car flaws?
I tried to search for it but could not find for anything that is specific about Honda’s car flaws incidents. Just give me the links will do, thanks. (Add your opinions if u want…)

A: You mean Toyota…? haha jk
Here you go… Honda’s Recalls posted today the 17th.

http://www.themoneytimes.com/featured/20100317/honda-motors-recall-410000-vehicles-id-10104077.html

Q: Can you make a copy of a Honda car key?
A Honda car was stolen and they can’t figure out how the car was started. Can car keys be duplicated or are there microchips or something in the keys so that only original keys work?

A: Theives can write down your VIN number, take it to a Honda dealership that doesn’t care about checking proof of ownership, and get a replacement key made.

Read and learn more about new Honda Cars. For more, visit the Honda Car website HondaCar101.com

Q: do new honda’s cars built for Great Britain specify 5w20 weight motor oil?
in the US new honda cars specify 5w20 weight motor oil, i’ve been told that 5w20 motor oil returns 1% beter fuel mileage but negatively impacts engine life

A: It depends what motor oil you’re comparing it to: Most UK spec cars now specify 0w-30 or 5w-30 oil.
I assume that you are comparing this to ‘old’ heavier multigrade oil, from 10w or 20w up – this isn’t deemed necessary any more due to the machining tolerances of modern engines – at one time, if you put a thinner grade of oil into an old engine, you’d get a problem with oil consumption.
The idea of specifying lower viscosity multigrade oils is that they circulate quicker from cold & therefore cause less wear in the long term.
I use 0w/30 semi synthetic in my Nissan 2.7TD with 150k miles on, no problems with wear or using any oil.
Just looking at Castrol’s website, looks like they show manufacturer’s spec as 0w/30 for virtually all Hondas.

Q: How many new Honda cars where sold / registered in 1993?

A: In the UK: 30,902
Elsewhere: a lot more.

Q: Are the New Honda cars eco Friendly?
Eco friendly approach is one of the most concerned and concentrated topics. Cars are the main fuel emission producers in the nature. Let’s have the habit of confirming this approach in the car buying before making the final deal.

A: 1 Honda is one of the most responsible companies of the industries and is having some vibrant features of eco friendly attitude to deal with the global climate changes. The company has decided fixed strategy to cop up with the most dangerous issue in front of the world and has added these features in all upcoming models of company.

1 Improving fuel efficiencies

Honda is the highest fleet-averaged fuel efficient cars of US since last Fifteen years. Also they have applied these efficiencies in all the new models as well.

2 Emission Reductions

New Honda cars are equipped with some of the best gasoline powered engines, clear and smoother valve and below the emission standard rates.

3 Energy productions

New Honda care are enriched with the new fuel cell technology in which the refuelling of energy infrastructure is developed and also the Solar and Natural Gas is being produced to make the best ever production unit.

These are the fields where the new Honda cars have improved to the higher side and have made greater improvement.

Q: Were can i trade in an old 1991 civic si for a other new honda car, I live in Minnesota/ Minneapolis?
Need a new car and want to trade old car for new car. I also have another honda car that try to fix but don’t wor and also want to trade it or get money for it.

A: If I were you I would sell it locally. If you try to trade it into a dealer they might give you $500 for it while you can sell it privately/locally and get at least $1000 for it.

Try puting up an ad on Craigslist or AutoTrader. Honda tuners like to fix up the 89-95 Civic hatchbacks because there fairly light, you can easily find a potential buyer.

Q: i want to purchase new car like honda-city by cash, then which type of document should i required?
i am a small broker and i have earned sufficent money to purchase new honda city car, can i pay in cash?or which document is must required? or how can i purchase without PAN detail?

A: Depends on the laws in your country.

I don’t know what PAN is.

Q: Can you put those bright headlights that most new/fancy cars have into a older Honda?
I’ve got a 2002 Honda Civic with standard headlights. My night vision isn’t that great and I prefer driving cars with the bright new lights (what are they? halogen?) I want to know if its possible to put bright lights in my car, either by installing new bulbs or getting the Honda mechanics to do it. If its possible, are they/installation expensive?

A: They’re Xenon and you can get conversion kits you can install yourself.

Q: How much does it actually cost to buy a new car (honda civic)?
If I find on the internet that a honda civic costs 16,305—are there other fees like dealership fees, taxes, registrations?

Also people tell me to buy a used car—but I find that the price difference beween a 2008 used honda and a brand new one is les than 1000, and the miles on th used one is like 15,000. Is it really dumb to buy new? Im a first time car buyer. Thanks

A: First you need to understand that the $16,305 given on whatever internet site you are using probably is not the actual selling price, unless it is a written quote from a franchised dealer or a legitimate online broker. If it’s a number off Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, or Yahoo Autos or whatever, the actual selling price will vary from dealer to dealer depending on inventory, incentives, etc.

Then there will be several costs in addition to the basic selling price of the car. Each of these will be listed on your purchase order for the new vehicle. That’s the long government-mandated form that is filled out by the computer after you have agreed to a purchase price, and which you must sign several places and initial several others.

The example I have in front of me starts with the cash price. Your car will be less expensive, so some of the examples will not be representative of what you should expect.

The next cost is sales tax, which is a percentage of the purchase price. This can run into the thousands of dollars.

There is a dealer documentation fee, which you must pay (you can’t do this yourself.) On the example I have it’s $249.

Next is the Registration fee, usually a fixed amount. ($22.50 on this car)

On the form I am referring to there is a “Title Fee,” ($4,00) and a “Lieu Tax,” whatever that means. (It was $25 on this transaction.)

There is a $5.00 tire recycling fee.

There is usually a space where they can list what they charge you if you get your insurance through them. Don’t.

Also, there will be several places where they tell you how much your financing is costing you. This is not, strictly speaking, a “fee” so I don’t count it.

Other states may have other fees, so look at the purchase order form carefully before you sign or initial anywhere.

Do not buy anything else. Don’t buy the Lojac, the undercoating, the aftermarket alarm, the extended warranty, the fancy wheels, the “exterior and interior protectant package,” or anything else. If they don’t throw in a set of floor mats, don’t pay for them.

As to the new versus used question, I usually counsel clients to buy used for their first car. The real difference in price is not what you see in the ads. Look for a certified pre-owned car at a Honda dealer. Do some homework at Edmunds, KBB.com and the Auto Trader to see what they are asking for, for low mileage cars. Remember that the real selling price will be lower than the listed asking price.

Q: Is it advisable to fit cngKit in new cars like Honda City / SX4. Can anybody answer having technical knowledge

A: It is perfectly OK to fit in a CNG kit with these vehicles. (i’m assuming you’re in India and that gasoline is really expensive there). Though power may be compromised on by 10-15%, it’ll be worth the savings you’d be able to make. Please go only for the best brands available in the market. Also note that any CNG kit that is not a factory fitment would void your vehicle of any warranty provided with new vehicles. I suggest you wait till your warranty expires before going for it.

Q: What are the pros and cons of these two cars the new 09 honda accord coupe and a infinity g35 coupe?
I am not sure if I should buy a infinity g35 coupe or a 09 accord coupe!

A: G35 Coupe!

Depends on what you are looking for in a car. Personally, I would go with the G35.

Q: new Honda Hydrogen Fuel Cell cars..water vapor is one of the biggest greenhouse gasses?
These cars claim to emit no greenhouse gasses, however water vapor is one of the biggest, albiet natural, greenhouse gasses that we have. I suppose a ‘natural’ greenhouse gas is better than CO2, among others, however is it going to really contribute to lowering GHG emissions and global temperatures over the years?

A: Water vapor is a feedback, not a forcing. This means while it can amplify global warming, it cannot cause global warming.

The amount of water vapor in the atmosphere depends on the temperature of the atmosphere. As long as nothing else is causing the planet’s temperature to change, you can emit as much water vapor as you want and it will just fall back to the earth as precipitation. If something is causing the planet to warm (like CO2 accumulating in the atmosphere), then the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere can increase and cause the planet to warm further. For further details, see Myth #9 at the link below.

http://greenhome.huddler.com/wiki/global-warming-myths

However, since 96% of our hydrogen currently comes from fossil fuels, fuel cell cars do still contribute to CO2 emissions and thus global warming.

http://greenhome.huddler.com/wiki/hydrogen-cars

Q: are the new 2010 honda accord coupes good first cars?
i am thinking of getting a new 2010 accord coupe as a first car. they range to about $25,000 full loaded. honda, so i have been told, is a very reliable car.. what is your opinion?

A: while the people below have a good point about not getting a new car for your first car, the honnda accord is a GREAT car. mostly all hondas are. they run great, drive smooth, dont have alot of issues, (& look pretty.) (:

Q: how much of a discount do honda employees get on new cars?
say a civic or civic hybrid?

A: Usually import car company employees get their vehicles at dealer cost plus they can also get any national incentives being offered. If a vehicle is in short supply, such as a new hybrid, no discounts may be offered until the supply pipeline is full.

Q: Is it true USA (American) car dealers used/new will not sell Honda Cars to Canadian citizens? People tell me..
People tell me that this is the case so if you want a Honda out of the USA you have to buy private or at an Auction. Is this true or b.s. I specifically would like to know if this is the case in the MICHIGAN (detroit) area.

A: Read the two links posted below. The manufacturers try to block you, but apparently you can work around it because Canadian Customs is sympathetic to your plight. You might need to get a US friend of yours to buy the car and sell it to you.

Q: do new honda’s built for the australian market specify 5w20 motor oil?
in the us new honda cars specify 5w20 motor oil, i’ve been told that 5w20 oil returns 1% better fuel mileage but negatively impacts engine life, do new honda’s built for australian market specify 5w20 motor oil? thanks

A: They specify 5w30 which will work in all weather. 5w20 is for colder climates where viscosity is the main goal.

Q: Which are the economical cars for sale of Honda?
The recessional effect has forced everyone to think seriously about the saving of money.
A: The recessional effect has forced everyone to think seriously about the saving of money. It is better to deal with the economical products rather than going for expensive or even the cheaper and inferior product. Let’s see which of the Honda cars the economical cars of all are.

Honda is the world’s most popular automotive industries and is making the most spectacular and sizzling vehicles range which are efficient enough for mesmerising everyone. The most special thing in the world is that they have introduced many of the cars with higher efficiencies and lower rates. They are the real producers of economical and elegant cars. Here are some of those names.

Honda Insight

It is the lowest rated and most affordable new hybrid cars of US which has been offered under $20,000. These are the cars which are having supremacy in the functions and also the better attitude in the features and distinct nature.

Honda Accord

It is one of the best cars Honda has ever produced. This car is now available quite cheaply and the buyers are having chance to get the better stuffed cars alongwith some of the marvellous features and functions. It is considered as one of the top 10 best cars of all times.

Honda Odyssey

This is the models which I feel is quite better and energetic. Someone might feel the shape of the car weird but actually it isn’t. It’s one of the most economical cars which provide luxuries with greater facilities.

Q: As a car salesman, what cars should I sale? Ford, Checy, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Honda etc.?
I used to sale cars and didnt do too bad but not topo good either. I sold for Chevy, and and only 1 or 2 people did exceptionaly well, I personally believe, chevy just doesnt sale. I am thinking of going back into car sales, anyone have any advice on which is the best to sale? And if yout in the San Diego area, knowof any good honest dealerships to sale from?
Thanks
Josh

A: BMW, very difficult to get in, but very rewarding. If you have enough experience and ace the interview you may have a shot.

Q: does anyone want to sale a honda car in my range of $0-3000 dollars?
i’m graduating and this is going to be my graduation present for college

A: Go to craigslist.com and i bet you could find yourself a nice and cheap honda congratulations btw.

Q: I need advice from a professional car sale person?
I am selling a 2002 hyundai with 150k miles with clean interior andd I want to trade it in for a 2000 honda civic with 170k miles. What should I say to the one selling the car, so he agrees to trade. I need to say something that will make that person agree.

A: Your car is two years newer and has 20k less miles on it. Drive home those points. You might book them out on the internet to see how they compare in price. If your car is worth more, bring that point up too. If not, avoid that issue.

Q: Where can I buy a Honda, Toyota, Nissan, or Volkswagen car with the steering wheel on the right side?
I live in Texas and I want to know where I can find cars for sale that have the steering wheel on the right side. Do I have to special order them from overseas, or is there a certain vendor I have to contact? Any help would be great!

A: Why would you want it there? That’s what’s killing me.

Q: Is 24,348 good for a 2007 Honda Accord LX Coupe?
I live in Germany and the car sales man says that this car in the states would cost 27,148 in the states. I was woundering if this was true. It also comes with 6year/75,000 mile coverage. I would like to hear from people who sale Hondas or have bought one of these cars. Thanks!
The price includes Ziebart ( rust protection, sound deadener, fabric protection for your car)

A: the dealer is overstating the U.S. retail value by about $5,000. According to Kelly Blue Book (the acknowledged guide for vehicle values) a 2007 4 cylinder averages $21,500 and the 6 cylinder is $22,500. That assumes it is a used car with mileage of 12,000 miles.

the rustproffing and fabric protectors don’t add anything to the value if its already on the car—they can’t take it off. The Zeibart in the US is about $350; fabric protector is not worth anything. However, the extended warranty probably adds about $500 because the US warranty on the powertrain is 5/60,000 and the base is 3/36,000 so you’re not getting that much more protection. Dealers would sell that for about $1500, so the max retail value would be 24,000 if its a V-6.

In the US the 2007 model is heavily discounted because it is to be replaced in September with an all new body style that will impact the value of the 2007. That’s why I used the used car value above. the new car values by Kelly are 22,000 for the 4 cyl and 25,000 for the 6 cyl. The used car prices are what you should use because it will have that value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

You can go to www.kbb.com to do the research for new car values yourself. You can also go to www.edmunds.com for the new car prices as that site may have information on current discounts.

I have an Accord and its a great value if you can get it for the right price.

hope that helps

Q: Do YOU think that JAPANESE cars are really better than the AMERICAN made cars, the sales seem to say so ?
It seems that General Motors are shooting themselves in the foot
once again. They are down, but are not out. They have the skills
and the money, and the technology to find their way out of this maze.
And they shall rise again. But for now they suck. The only hot seller
they have now is the Chevy Malibu, and not to mention the Chevy
Impala. But Toyota has the top seller, which is the Toyota Camry.
Then the Carolla. And of course the Honda Accord and the Nissan
Altima are selling like hotcakes too. These Japanese made cars
have been around for a while now. And their reputation is good, and
people trust them with the type of quality they have. I know, I drive
a Honda. But some American cars are just as qualified. The big 3
just lack consistency ! They have even discontinued their best and
most legendary automobiles !! Crazy right ? Pontiac, Buick, Saturn,
Chrysler, and Ford. You guys have got to step your game up. Trucks
alone cant get the job done. Anyway. Do you think that Japanese
cars are better ?

A: I like American cars when they’re running.

I buy Mazda because they actually DO run.

I knew a guy who bought an F150 for $43,000. It broke down along the highway 3 times in the first 6 months. I used to poke my head into his office and ask, “have you driven a Ford lately?”

Q: anybody who knows second hand cars for sale?
im looking for honda civic model97-up or a toyota corolla gli 98-up.available for financing,.within balanga city/bataan.

A: Hi,
I know of a great free classified ads website called stumblehere.com; I would suggest that you check it out for a honda civic or toyota corolla that is for sale in your area. I have purchased a car off of an ad from stumblehere and I have bought other merchandise from this site as well. Check it out!

Q: How easy is it to be successful in car sales?
I’ve been in sales positions for about 7 years now, mainly outside B2B sales. Recently, I decided I wanted a change, I just moved to a new city and have been pretty bored with the sales job I’ve had for the past few years. I was offered a car sales position working for Honda, but I am having a hard time deciding if I should give it a shot. If I ever were to sell cars it would be for a company like Honda or Toyota, simply because it seems they have their niche customers moreso than other car makers, plus the quality of their cars. However, at the same time I just don’t know if getting into this industry is something that is easy to do or not. The upside is great if you are a top producer, but I just have no idea how quickly someone can jump right in and start making good money. Any advice from people doing it would be greatly appreciated!

A: . I’ve been buying cars for 30 yrs and never met a car salesman that I liked. But I love their stories!
Read their books, like from this site @ http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/money/178619_cardealer19.html ; “…For three months, Reed, the consumer advice editor for Edmunds.com, worked as a car salesman at two Southern California auto dealerships, hoping to gain insight on the art of deal-making and the behavior of auto salespeople.
Reed wrote about his experiences … “
Check out the BusinessWeek article: “…Not so long ago selling cars was one of the best ways to make a living without a college degree. Talk to a car-lot veteran, and chances are he’ll rhapsodize about the go-go 1980s, when earning $100,000 a year wasn’t uncommon ” etc.
Anyway, go to Amazon.com or any book atore and find books written by these salespersons. . It CAN be a good job. .

Q: why don’t the big three sale the cars for 10,000 or less?
Ford and chev and Chy! Japan and China and germans are soon going to owning the USA if you america don’t start buying made in the USA at least some rappers buy caddies but those are gas hogs and america need to buy from Detroit not from oversea that why the stock market is going down you are hurting america when you buy car like honda or toy or Nissan start buying fords or chev or chry! made in the USA should mean some to america’s
I know that but when you look at the up side when you buy a car that made in USA you help millions of people keep their jobs!!
Look alot of cars made in the USA aren’t from oversea My point is this half of America buys cars from oversea and I’m not doubt that some parts are made in Mexico or japan but the cars are bulid here!

http://autos.yahoo.com/2008_chevrolet_aveo5/

8,000
so if I can find a chev for that cheap new whyn’t buy a car made america!!!

A: nobody makes a car for 10000 or less. not even kia or toyota or honda. Your argument is pointless.. I deal with chinese engines on a daily basis. They are crap. I know.

Q: Sale tax for private party car sale?
I am planning to sell my honda civic EX in Washington. Is there sales tax for the vehicle? I heard that stimulus plan has removed sales tax on new vehicles. What about used vehicles?

A: That stimulus sales tax credit is only for new cars. Since you are selling the car, you don’t collect any sales tax anyway, that’s the responsibility of the buyer. Good luck and I hope this helps to clarify.

Q: find used honda cars for sale?
from the united state of america

A: www.carsoup.com

Q: Why are there 3 times less used Toyota’s for sale vs Honda?
I’ve been looking through various media and I find 2 or 3 times more used Honda’s for sale than Toyota. Now assuming Honda sold as many cars as Toyota does (which they don’t)… why do so many people want to sell their Honda?

A: Dont make generalizations based on your local newspaper. I lived in Boulder Colorado and the car of choice there was a Saab. Now I might see one or two every year. In Montreal VW Jettas make up at least 50% of cars on the road. In Texas Ford trucks are #1, so my point is locally the market can be skewed toward any brand.
Just wanted to add that the demand for used Toyota’s is fairly high, many of them don’t make it to the open market. We passed ours to a family member, the neighbors have sold two of their used Camrys to other neighbors etc.

Q: Why are there 3 times more used Honda’s for sale than Toyota’s?
I’ve been looking through various media and I find 2 or 3 times more used Honda’s for sale than Toyota. Now assuming Honda sold as many cars as Toyota does… why do so many people want to sell their Honda?

A: Who said that?

Q: Good website for finding used cars?
What are some good websites to find used modified/custom cars for sale like Honda’s, Acura’s etc.?

A: www.autotrader.com

Q: Why are used honda civics more expensive than used acura integras?
I’ve been looking at used cars online for sale. Same year, mileage, options.. yet the civics are about 1500 more than the integras.. I know for a fact that integras cost more when bought new and they are overall nicer than civics yet they are way less than the same civics. They’re both made by Honda and get similar gas mileage.. why would it be so much cheaper? I also checked the book values and its the same in terms of cost difference.. the civics are worth more according to the book too.. same year.. same trim.. everything.

A: Demand. Not everyone realizes that Acuras are made by Honda. People pay for the Honda name because they know it’s synonymous with high quality and long lasting engines.

Q: Where and how can I advertise for free for the sale of a used car?
The car is an Honda Station Wagon Silver 1996, 124000 miles. Very good condition. technically excellent. Asking 3000 or best offer. Located in Fort Lee, NJ. You can call me at 201 575 0542 (cell) (daytime hours please) Thank you.

A: you just did

Q: Where can I find cheap for sale used/secondhand/2ndhand here in Thailand Bangkok?
I want to find a cheap used but in good condition Honda/Kia/hyundai/suzuki/mitsubishi car/automobiles for sale.

A: There are used car lots in many areas in Bangkok, the area around Thiam Ruam Mit Rd. off of Rathadaphisik has the most I’ve seen in one area. Go up Ratchadaphisik across Rama IX, turn right at the first light past the Carrefour to Thiam Ruam Mit Rd. and there are some large used car dealers, also the road perpendicular (I don’t know the name of the street) to Thiam Ruam Mit back toward Ratchadaphisik, near Utopia Entertaiment has a bunch of used car dealers with hundreds of used cars for sale. Also, if you drive north on Ratchadaphisik, you’ll find more used car dealers in various locations. Good luck.

Q: Does anyone know or have a reliable used honda, toyota or nissan in the atlanta metro area for sale?
I need a car…

A: All of my family owned Honda and Toyota, so I know they are really reliable. My father owned the 1999 Honda Accord Sedan for about 8 years, it is still driveable, and it got like 150,000 miles. Go for any old Honda or Toyota, you will not regret it. Make sure have your mechanic check the engine before you buy any. Good luck

Q: Can dealers make a used car certified when you purchase the car?
I’am looking to buy a used 2006 civic si with navigation. I found 2 places. One place has 12K miles, with fog lights, navigation and is honda certified for 100K powertrain warranty and they want $20K for the car. Another place has 7K miles, fog lights, navigatiaon, and the honda body kit, however no extended warranty, and they want $22K for the car. Both places are from HONDA dealers. If a person or dealer wants to make a sale, can they make the car certified and give me the 100K powertrain warranty or not? I was told, it can only be sold as certified used honda car, if the car, was leased or purchased from that dealer, is this true? Also, how is the ride quality on this car compared to the EX model? And having this body kit from honda, when you hit pot holes or things or that nature, can the front bumper actually bend and break? Or do you really have to smash a huge enormous pot hole. Thank a lot. Do these prices sound 2 overpriced, I mean its already 2008

A: Well first off the price is high for an 06 exspecially the one for 22k because you can buy a brand new civic si for the same price at the dealership i work at a brand new civic si is 21,999 now onto the body kit if you do want a body kit on it then honda’s oem kit is the best one it is made from the same plastic that is used on the stock bumpers and side skirts so yes it holds up very well and is more durable then most aftermarket kits but the kit brand new cost close to 3 grand then you have to pay to have it installed now on to the ride quality it is a better ride then the ex it has a sport suspension so it corners and handles better then the ex and is faster. Now on to the certification it is at the dealers sole descretion weather or not the car is certified just because it has low miles and is a newer model does not mean that the dealership has to certify the car they choose witch car they certify and dont but most of the times if it has low miles and is a newer model then it will be certified but if it is not you can allways buy a warranty from the honda dealership you purchase the car from witch can be put onto the price of the car so you dont have to have any money up front

hope this helps

Q: Can a dealer make a used car certified or not? ? ?
I’am looking to buy a used 2006 civic si with navigation. I found 2 places.
A: Honda certifies the cars, not the dealer. The dealer does the required inspections, if they pass, they can be certified by Honda and the warranties given. In my experience, if a car is certified, you will have less problems, but you will pay a little more for the “protection”. As to the body kit? Of course you will be dragging the ground when crossing pot holes and RR tracks…not a good idea…Good Luck!
As to whether any price quoted to by a dealer is reasonable or not, check the Kelly Blue-book website.
You can also buy an extended warranty for any car…just don’t do it through the dealer, they will rape you!

Q: Where can Honda del Sols be found for sale?
Do most people find them at car auctions, used car lots, or individuals with a sign in the window of their del Sol? I’m from southern Ohio and someone recently totaled my car. I would prefer a ‘97 but any in good condition would be great. Thanks.

A: cars.com
autotrader.com
craigslist.org
Craigslist seems to be one of the best lately as far as quantity and the site isn’t inundated with ads from dealerships (if you prefer private party to save a few bucks). You could check ebay but every time I did it was a waste… still worth a look though, you may have good results. Beware of auctions they can be risky, sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes you end up towing your new car home shaking your head.

Q: Where can I find good conditioned, cheap, used cars in or around 48212?
My parents are looking for a “HONDA ODYSSEY”.
It has to be less then $5,000-$6,000.
It has to be in good condition, sale by owner.
can’t be high mileage.

Lot of expectations, sorry.

Any websites?
URL’s?

I really need help, thanks.

A: I regret that I cannot answer this question more directly. I have a mechanic that I have trusted for 20 years. When I need to buy a used car, I go to Tom. He refers me to one of his customers who has a car to sell, and I deal directly with the seller. Tom knows the history of the car, and whether it would be suitable for my needs.

This of course, relies on you having a commercial relationship with an honest, competent mechanic. I recommend that you seek out a mechanic with ASE certification.

Alternatively, go to CarTalk.com, look up mechanics in Hamtramck, type up your specifications and go to “find a mechanic” file listed there. Contact them personally, leave them a copy of your specs and contact information.

http://www.cartalk.com/content/mechx/find.html

Q: Question on Auto Dealers for used cars?
Some of them are Chevy or Toyota or other franchisees. and then there are wholesalers or other used car retailers. Do the franchisees do any extra servicing on a used car before they put it up for sale?

Also, does it help to buy a used Chevy from a Chevy dealer or would any other dealer (like a Honda or a Dodge dealer) work on the car before he puts it up for sale?

A: It depends on the individual dealership since many buy from the same auctions. If you purchase a vehicle that has is a manufacturer Certified Pre-Owned car, they go through an inspection process and also typically involve additional warranty and sometimes a special interest rate. Buying a Chevy from a Chevy dealership is the ideal situation, but certainly not a guarantee of a better car. I hope this helps!

Q: Do you see a lot of used honda cars in Honda dealerships’ parking lots?
I don’t and I wonder why?

A: I see more for sale by owners. I’m sure there are many reasons (car is stolen, illegal modifications, primer paint job, unpainted panels from accidents, high mileage, etc.) that keep hordes of them off of dealership lots. It is usually better to do a private sale, dealers won’t give you what its worth.

Another reason might be because those used Honda’s are out there on the road still being used. I know my Civic will never go to a dealer.

-Chris

Q: What is the truth about Honda Certified Used Cars?
Is it true that they’re some of the most scrutinized used vechicle available to the public? Or is it all marketing hype?

Details=10.

A: inspect it carefully.
i have a friend who works at Honda and you’d be surprised what small things they leave out.

Q: Need a new website to find used cars (honda accord)?
Lately i’ve been using cars.com and craigslist, does anyone know any other websites I can use. I also buy/get car advertisements. Thank you.

A: www.autotrader.com
www.carsdirect.com

Q: where can I find good quality, cheap used HONDA cars?
except auto trader, ebay?

A: My husband and I own an automotive repair shop and we specialize in Honda and Acura. We go to local car auctions and find alot of good cars for cheap. You should look into the auctions in your area and you could find a good Honda.

Q: How true that HONDA cars can not be used as TAXI?
Even Mercedes Bench can be converted as taxi, but Honda is the only vehicle in the world that can not be used as a taxi

A: I have seen honda van taxi’s

Q: where can I find good used Honda cars under $4,000 near Athens, Ga.?

A: try ebay

Q: find used honda cars for sale?
from the united state of america

A: www.carsoup.com

Q: I am buying a Used Honda Fit Sport. Of these two cars, which would you purchase (see description)…..?
I am getting a used Honda Fit Sport. Of these two used cars, which would you get:

1. 2007 Honda Fit Sport, 97k miles with PERFECT maintenance logs (proof provided) including regular oil changes at the dealer and transmission flushes. Price $8800.

2. 2008 Honda Fit Sport, 65k miles, no maintenance logs or proof of maintenance. Price $10900.

Which is it? Newer and more expensive with fewer miles but no maintenance proof, or older and cheaper with PERFECT maintenance.

A: I’d go with the 2007. A maintenance history gives you a known starting point, and the 30k difference in mileage is only about 10% of the car’s probably life (assuming you continue the maintenance), whilst saving about 20% purchase price. Maintenance during the first 10k is critical, solid maintenance for near 100k is fantastic!

Obviously @knightriding has no clue as to what a good car is!

Q: what website is the best to buy a used car, preferably a used honda accord car and what do i look out for?
what are the things to consider when it comes to buying a used car?
i live in london,U.K, and am looking to buy a cheap used car but a cheap used honda car is preferable.am also looking for the best car auction places in london.

A: 1) Your best bet is to follow the UK version of craigslist.org for a week or so. You’ll see a number of low priced cars come through the list. I’ll copy in one ad below. The URL is:

http://london.craigslist.org/

2) Here is another great source, but the cars will be somewhat more expensive:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/

3) And finally, there is this more routine source:

http://www.cargiant.co.uk/

__________

The ad from craigslist.org:

1990 Honda Civic Coupe 1.5 LEFT HAND DRIVE 16V Red 60K Original Miles – £799
Sunroof , front wheel disk brakes .This is the 3-door hatchback style . 1493cc . The car has been lowerd and has the low profile alloy rims and tires . Brand new exhaust system . Retractable sunroof . Bright red exterior with grey interior . VERY economical on petrol ….this car has all the original maintance record, my dad took very good care of this car and as i mentioned earlier , it runs like a new car . Minor dings associated with normal usage of car . MOT is good until November 21st 2007 . If you are looking for a very dependable car that you wont have to put any money into, then this car is it .

Q: What company manufactures the batteries used in Toyota and Honda hybrid cars?
I can’t find any information on which company makes the batteries used in hybrid vehicles.

A: Toyota manufactures their own batteries with technology purchased from Panasonic….. Honda batteries are supplied by Sanyo.

Q: hi need help honda cars enthusiast in the philippines … do you know any place like in banawe ?
where i can buy good used honda cars engine…. im planning to replace my old civic db517 engine…really need you helkp bro!!!

A: online.

Q: Are used Honda Accords good cars?
I’m talking like mid 1990’s Accords with 150,000 miles or more. I know Hondas are built like tanks, but what kinds of problems should I expect to find if I buy something like this?

Have these cars had any notorious problems?

A: have the car checked out by a mechanic well worth the money

Q: Used Honda, Toyota or Mazda cars 4 door only?
Looking for a good used car without too many miles of under 6,000. is that possable?
under 50,000 miles would be nice but defently under 100,000
under $6,000.00 is what I ment sorry

A: very possible check autotrader.com and craigslist.com
btw to me low mileage is under 50k

Q: Will honda let me terminate my lease is I finance a certified used car instead?
I have a 09 civic whose lease is up in January 2012. Instead of throwing another 5K away in a lease I rather give back my leased car and finance a certified used Honda. Will they let me do this?

A: Not without paying the early termination fees that come with all leases.

Q: Honda Cars?
Ok, I am getting either an acura integra, honda civic, or mitsubishi eclipse, I am basing this on previous questions I have asked on here and opinions and facts that friends have presented to me. Now, with that being said, can I find one of these cars 93-99 yr model, for around 2-8k ? and would you mind listing the pros and cons of each. Thanks

A: If I were to choose, I’d say a Honda Civic. Those things LAST FOREVER. Seriously. And they get great gas mileage. I’d say you could get a 98-2000 for your price range. They are all around great cars. I don’t know a lot about the acura, but I have heard they are pretty decent as well, especially for the price. Now I’d say the eclipse, out of all of them, would be the lower quality of the three. they are cute and nice but I think hondas and acuras are definitley more economical, especially with the horrific gas prices at the pump. Gas prices are only going to get worse, so stick with something you can afford that gets good G mileage. Another you might look at is toyota. They are top of the line. Not sure if they would be in your price range, but maybe. And toyota’s last FOREVER too. awesome cars.

Q: honda cars?
does the 2008 honda odyssey have the same engine as the 2008 honda accord

A: yea it does its a 3.5l v6 sohc engine

the new odyssey is actually a fun minvan to drive, ive test driven one at a dealership and it handles really good for a minivan

Q: Which are the economical cars for sale of Honda?
The recessional effect has forced everyone to think seriously about the saving of money. It is better to deal with the economical products rather than going for expensive or even the cheaper and inferior product. Let’s see which of the Honda cars the economical cars of all are.

Q: Are honda cars as economical and practical as toyota cars?
Im a toyota car user and since ive just sold my unit, im thinking of switching to honda for whatever its worth..I need some advice from honda civic car owners…

My toyota corolla altis was fuel efficient and did not break down during the 5-year time i used it…

A: The good thing about Honda’s is that they last a very long time and they always run very smoothly, as well as Toyota. As far as fuel usage I think the Honda is a little better then Toyota, though Toyotas probably last longer then most hondas and also are more stylish and luxurious. My first car was a Honda and it lasted me such a long time until I got into a car crash and my insurance offered me more then I bought it for to repair it, i took that and also sold the car so it ended up making me a profit. Honda cars also dont depreciate as fast as others do, Overall I liked honda better then toyota, but both brands are very trustworthy

Q: Do you think a honda cars is a good street racering car to own?
I see allot of people driving in honda cars such as the most seen an accord, and second Integra is those cars really that good?

A: You shouldn’t race your stupid riced out 4-banger on public streets. You’ll kill all of us.

Q: Honda cars?!?
whats the engines like?

A: I love honda cars but im a girl, and I aint got a clue about engines and all that shizz

Q: Are these prices good deals for 2003-2005 toyota camry/Honda cars?
I’ve seen some toyota camrys, honda accord, honda civic hybrids. Between years 03-05 in the ads for around 4k-5k around there. Gonna check the cars with the owners but wondering if they are reasonable priced. It seems really good to me. The camry has a 17k miles on it lol.

A: let me guess you saw them on craigslist? its a scam.. do u really think someone would sell practially brand new cars with low mileage for so cheap? try this email the person selling the car and they will reply back to you with some made up story like i really need the money because im moving blah blah… they will say they can ship the car for you for free using the us military cargo airplane< big lie... they will tell you do to a western union money order so this way u can never get your money back... the only other way these cars can be so cheap is if theyre a salvage title meaning they have been in an accident < not worth buying

Q: Why is it that such a large percentage of the Honda NSX cars were in bad accidents?
Corvettes are high performance cars, so are Porsches and Nissan 350Z too, but when I try looking around for a used NSX it seems that they have always been fixed up from total write-off accidents.

Why is it that so many Honda NSX cars have been in accidents (I mean percentage-wise, as a percent of the number of NSX cars on the road.) Does it have something to do with rear-wheel drive / mid-engline design being faulty?

A: They had a lower profile, making them harder to see in traffic.

Q: Where can I find a mechanic who works on Honda cars?
I have a 1988 honda accord but I dont want to take it to a honda dealership to be worked on.

A: For the umpteenth time, anyone who’s looking for a good, honest, reliable mechanic should go to www.cartalk.com; click on “actual car information”. Scroll down and look for the section called “Mechanic’s files”. There are sixteen thousand mechanics who have been recommended by regular folks. Good luck!

Q: What is the History of Honda Cars?
What country did it come from? What type of engine does it have? Could you tell me all about Honda Cars.

A: Honda Motor Company, Limited (本田技研工業株式会社, Honda Giken Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha?, Honda Technology Research Institute Company, Limited) (TYO: 7267 NYSE: HMC) is a multinational corporation, engine manufacturer and vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Japan.

The company manufactures automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, scooters, robots, jets and jet engines, ATV, water craft, electrical generators, marine engines, lawn and garden equipment, and aeronautical and other mobile technologies. Honda’s line of luxury cars are branded Acura in North America, Hondura in the Honduras and Hongda in China. More recently they have ventured into mountain bikes.

Honda is the 6th largest automobile manufacturer in the world as well as the largest engine-maker in the world, producing more than 14 million internal combustion engines each year. As of August 2008, Honda surpassed Chrysler as the 4th largest automobile manufacturer in the United States. Currently, Honda is the second largest manufacturer in Japan behind Toyota and ahead of Nissan.

You can find a comprehensive list of engines here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Honda_engines

List of Honda cars:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Honda_vehicles

Q: What is the most reliable cars after Honda and Toyota?
I wanted to know how reliable cars are. Toyota and Honda are probably ranked #1 and #2 respectively. But what cars would you rank as the 3rd or 4th most reliable?

A: nissan and subaru

Q: What is so great about Honda cars?
I plan on getting a car soon and was wondering what everyone has to think about Honda cars.
I noticed that people make a big deal out of V-Tech on Hondas.. what is so special about that stuff.. sry to ask but Im a Noob @ cars.. lol
Thanks for the advice on the Hondas.. I really appreceate it. What model Honda do you think is the best out of all the Honda cars.

A: Honda’s are very reliable cars and can last a long time without any problem’s at all. They are good on gas and most are pretty cheap so it’s a good starter car. The best Honda car is the 2000 Honda Prelude because I have one and really love it and it has an h22 v-tech engine in it which is one of the best engine’s a 4 cylinder car can have.

Q: How to open interior of Honda cars?
Can any one tell me or better if CAN GIVE A LINK where i can read all how to remove the various interior parts of a HONDA PRELUDE 92/91, etc details ? i need to open my Cd player and see other stuff but that requires removing a big middle frame of plastic. i simply cant open that frame, if i am able to open that then i would have acess to most stuff..The frame gets stuck around the front and cant be taken out.

A: No place on line to show how to do this, but a Haynes or Chilton manual will give you step by step on anything you need to do to the car.

Q: Anyone who has knowledge about old Honda cars?
I am interested in buying a used Honda Civic model 1995 but I don’t know the difference between a Civic Vti and Civic Exi. Can someone help me out. What’s the difference between Vti & Exi? Which one is better?
Anyone Please.

A: exi

Q: What are some good honda cars to customize?
That look awsome once customized
What honda civic (as in year) would be good?

A: Honda civic or accord there are plenty of parts in the market for customization

Read and learn more about all honda recalls. For more, visit the Honda Car website HondaCar101.com

Q: Is it true that Honda is recalling all Civics because the wheels fall off?
I thought Honda built cars to last not fall apart. That can’t be very safe. Should I stop driving Honda? Should I sell the Honda?

A: Josh: It should be safe to keep driving your Honda and to sell it would rather rash.

While Honda Canada does have a recall on certain Civics it does NOT affect ALL Civics. Your wheels are likely NOT going to fall off just because there is a recall. There are usually warning signs long before that happens like a grinding noise. Many times it could be literally years before your “wheels fall off”.

Anyone owning a Civic is advised to hang tight – Honda Canada will be sending notices in the mail out to those with VIN numbers affected by the recall. Provding that Honda has your current address you will receive a notice which you can then take to your local Honda dealership to book an appointment for the repairs. If Honda does not have your current address it is recommended you call them or your dealership and have them update it. Without a current address on file they have no way of contacting you if issues do arise.

Like I said only certain Civics with VIN number within a certain range are being recalled. It is highly unlikely that your car is in any immediate danger of having it’s wheels come off unless you have been aware of the warning signs before hand. If your car has been grinding and making noises then I would say you haven’t had it in for a maintance check recently.

Honda vehicles have a very good safety rating and as I said selling it because of this recall is rather rash. Regular maintance is important to any vehicle and if you’ve kept yours up todate then it’s unlikely that there is anything wrong. Regular maintance checks usually catch problems when they are small especially if you have been taking it to a Honda dealership for servicing.

Q: Did any of our import lovers see all of the recalls by Honda and Toyota.?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070209/ap_o…

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7887155/…

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7887155/…
Sorry my freind, Firestone designed the tires not Ford and that is why Firestone is out of business. I posted this as a wake up call for all americans, remember in world war one and two who made our tanks and other transports to keep us safe it was the american worker.

A: just goes to show you the japs make shit too… they just dont make a big deal out of them as they do an american car company recall.

Q: 01 Acura Cl with major transmission issues, Honda recall warranty just expired..any recourse?
After speaking to Honda Canada, I realized that there was a major recall on these transmissions but the extended warranty (7 years because of all the problems) has expired. The car is immaculate and only has 125000 km on it.

A: Ask the dealer if Acura may be willing to pay a portion of the repair as a goodwill gesture since these cars have known transmission issues. If they can’t get Acura to do it, try to please your case to the area rep for Acura. number is 800-382-2283.

If you have records of properand timely transmission service, done as recommended by the manual, that will help. If you didn’t do the service they probably aren’t going to help you.

Q: auto recalls, they all have them so whats the big deal with toyotas?
why is it that toyota has this recall and the word is freaking out,why hasnt anyone freaked out in the past,be that toyota or any other company, and dont say o one died cause they have,my brother is in the middle of a lawsuit with ford cause his gas pedal got stuck and lost a leg in the accident, what makes toyota the bad guyes when every car has recalls, ford focus had over 100 recalls, the navigator has so many recalls they stopped sending letters out to the owners and just fix as they come,im tring to understand what makes toyota recalls any different from other recalls, the honda fit catches on fire, soo why isnt anyone making a big deal on this?now even though some will say im wrong, ive had 3 toyotas (1 thats on the recall list)and yet to have any issues with it,now my ford ranger ,great truck but rusted so bad the rear diff fell off and only had 140 something kms on it

A: Years ago, AUDI (model 4000) had uncontrolled acceleration problems. It damaged their sales so badly they quit selling them for a long time. Mitsubishi was accused of ignoring problems and not issuing recall notices at all for a span of 20 years. Ford had the fuel tank problem with the Pinto,Chevrolet had the problem with side mounted fuel tanks out side of their truck frames. All in all, the more electronic gizmo’s they stick on vehicles the more problems like these will occur.
I mean really, are we so lazy that we need electronic windshield rain sensors to turn on the windshield wipers? (Cadillac)

(retired mechanic)

Q: Why do they have recalls on vehicles?
Shouldn’t they have all that shit figured out BEFORE they sell it! I had a recall on my Honda cause apparently you could turn the ignition off when it was not in park. Now DODGE is recalling like 150,00 trucks cause of the passenger air bag. I don’t get it?

A: My opinion is, they obviously don’t test new vehicles rigorously enough. Most recalls are related to electrical/mechanical wear and tear. They could find these problems out if they just tested the vehicles for longer durations (more hours and more miles). The proof is in the pudding. When a particular model of vehicle has a cronically defective transmission, for example, that lasts 5-10k miles, in the case of the Kia Sedona minivan. This shows how lightly vehicles are tested before they’re put on the market.

I think it’s pretty rediculous to pay tens of thousands of dollars to get a flawed vehicle that has to be recalled because some aspect of the vehicle is deemed unsafe.

Q: Repaired a recalled Honda Accord part with my own money?
My windshield wiper motor on my 2003 Honda Accord was broken and so I took it in to my local mechanic last week to get the darn thing fixed. After doing some research AFTER the repair (yes, stupid me…), I found out that there had been a safety recall for this exact part/problem in April of 2008. I was out of the country for all of last year and so I unfortunately didn’t receive the letter from Honda. Excuses, excuses, excuses…

Am I completely out of luck in this situation to get any reimbursement from Honda for getting this part fixed on my own? Granted it was only $70 parts/labor but I sure would have liked to spend that money on something else…

Thanks for your assistance!

A: send the paper work into honda they will reimburse you

Q: Is there a recall on 1998 Honda Accord 2 doors v4?
I was driving down the street and out of no where my car started slowing down and i look at the dash board all my lights came on so i hurry up and pulled over and my car completely shut off. I put it back in park and try starting it again it wouldnt start. Then i waited 1 minute and it started. What can be wrong with it?

Is there a recall or anything?

Q: Can you tell me about all the 1983 motorcycles Honda made.?
We have bought a 83 Honda bike with v-Twin Motors. water cooled. we have been told it was a vargo or something. we also were told this type of motorcycle was recalled. Any help would be great.

A: Honda made 2 models of v twin in ‘83. The main difference is the way the engine is mounted. If the cylinders are front to back, like a Harley, then it’s a Shadow, either a 500 or 750. If the cylinders are side to side, like a Moto Guzzi, and it’s a cruiser, it’s a CX 500 or 650. If it’s a dresser, it’s a GL 500 or 650.

Q: Is the 2006 Honda Civic MP3 input being recalled?
The 2006 Honda Civic has a direct input for an MP3 player, and when I plug my iPod directly in with a cable, it seems like the sound is only coming through my front left speaker strong and very weak through my other speakers. Plus it sounds pretty crappy. Whereas a regular CD sounds great and is equally distributed through all my speakers. I know the sound quality of an MP3 player isn’t as good as CD, but that doesn’t explain how the sound is distributed through my speakers. It almost doesn’t make me want to listen to music through my iPod. My friend said he heard that Honda knows about the problem and is recalling the MP3 player input in the car to fix it. I couldn’t find anything online that mentions the recall. Does anyone else have this problem in their car? Have you found a way to resolve it? Have you heard anything about this supposed recall? Thanks in advance for your help.

A: Actually I am unaware of a so called recall. However we have stopped sale on our musiclink IPOD acessory to match an update Apple is doing to their newer IPODS. Most MP3’s have a varying sound quality depending upon source you recorded downloaded from. I have been disappointed with sound quality as well.

Q: Can I trade in my 2009 Corolla towards a new Honda?
Nothing is wrong with the car at all but i’ve hated it since the first week i got it. its got very low mileage and i just wish i had gone with a honda instead. i wished that BEFORE the recall!!

my payments are 300 per month. and the car is brand new.

how would a trade in work?

A: You could, but you shouldn’t! Instead, go to Ford and get a Focus. They will give you a good deal and a rebate too! And the 2010 Focus is a real gem, far better than Civic or Corolla..no recalls, top quality, 38 mpg, and lots of power. You will love it! My new 2010 Focus is 10 times what the Corolla is, and rides better and smoother than the Civic.

Q: What’s with all these Asian made car recalls?
Wow, talk about “when it rains it pours”. I heard on the news that Nissan was the latest, then I read this. It’s more than just Nissan. It’s Nissan, Suzuki, and Daihatsu! They said that “Honda’s been very quiet” lol. Could they be next?

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE61O25L20100225

A: Henry Ford is not rolling over in his grave, he’s rubbing his hands together.

Q: Air bag inflator recall: should this procedure involve the SRS indicator light?
the mechanic wanted me to pay $109 for a scope before he would turn the SRS indicator light off. My SRS light stayed on after leaving the seat belt jammed in the door accidentally over night. There was an air bag inflator recall on all Honda civics. The mechanic stated turning the SRS light off wouldn’t work unless he did the scope, because he claimed that the light had nothing to do with the airbag recall… Is that true?

A: The SRS light has nothing to do with the seat belt. It is very possible that the recall is the cause of the light. Take the car in for the recall and they will tell you if there is another problem with the system. I would bet that when they do the recall, the light will be reset at no charge.

You may want to shop for a more honest mechanic

Q: Car dealership sold me a car without out checking for recalls…?
I bought a used car from a dealership a month and a half ago. Last week i noticed that the passenger air bag was malfunctioning and not activating when passengers were in the seat. The car (Hyundai) came with a 2 month, 2000 mile 100% parts and labor warranty from the Honda dealership which i bought it from. When i went back to get the airbag system looked at, Honda said i would have to go to the Hyundai dealership to get it looked at because Honda didn’t have compatible scanning tools. Turns out that there was a recall in 2005 that the previous owners never took care of. The recall dealt specifically with the recalibration of the airbag sensors in that passenger seat. Shouldn’t Honda have looked into the recalls on the vehicle before selling it to me? They gave me no notice or information at all. Somebody could have been killed without that airbag working properly.

A: Yeah I’d be a little upset too after giving them all that money.Oh well,no harm done though.Maybe drive over to the Hyundai dealer and hope they don’t try to fish you in on some dealership scam.

Q: is 0bama trying to force Toyota and Honda and Nissan to unionize their U.S. factories? Is this REALLY what?
what these bogus recalls and hyped up publicity are all about?

Union thuggery and Chicago-style extortion rackets?
Don’t forget, 0bama and the Unions OWN General Motors and Chrysler now. Toyota is a competitor of the U.S. government – currently controlled by Marxists.

A: Let them try. The people are on to their Chicago street thug real identities and their mojo is fading real fast among the independent voters that were willing to give them a chance in ‘08 election.

Q: Whats wrong with my Honda?
its a 99 Honda Accord LX with a 4 cylinder F23 Vtec engine and 121,000 miles in it. While moving it abruptly shuts off and sometimes back on. Thinking it was a fuel problem i changed the fuel cap and the fuel filter and pump. I contacted my local Honda dealer to find out if any recalls where done on my vehicle. All the recalls that existed have already been done according to the dealer (including the ignition switch). The scanner is not giving any codes. Any suggestions will help. Thanks!

A: it could be numerous of things…such as they stated the grounding wire…fuel relay…or just your ignition system (cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, or maybe the whole distrubitor….maybe even your fuel injectors being dirty…

Q: does changing transmission fluid make check engine light go off?
My 2005 Honda Accord has the check engine light on. Overall it runs just fine and we do oil changes regularly. My husband says it could use a transmission fluid change. Will doing that make the light go off? I also have a 1998 Mazda Protege and it’s light is also on. I don’t recall if a transmission fluid change has been done on that one since we got married.

A: buy something from an American company and you wouldn’t have these problems, I couldn’t care less if they are made in America the profit still goes to japan and puts our people out of work

Q: Can i legally sell my car in California if i know it won’t pass smog check for the buyer?
my situation. I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. There was a recall because the check engine light kept staying on. It pointed towards the cataylic converter that needed to be replaced. (which was really fine, but it happened to me b4 recall) so i replaced it. but not with a certified Honda part, i bought a generic part in order to save about $1500. Even though i was adviced the generic part would not pass smog in CA, because of its strict guidelines.

i didn’t care i wanted to save $ and since i was also a NV resident, i figured when time comes 4 smog it, i will just take it to NV 2 pass.

Now i get a “recall notice” and Honda won’t let me get the Honda part back on or get re-imbursed since i put generic part on the car.

My intention was to take it to NV when i was ready to sell it But now that CA stopped issuing the HOV stickers 4 Hybrids, my car is much more valuable in CA and i would much rather sell the car here.

So.. Can i legally sell it in CA w/out disclosing to seller

A: Yes, since you are not a dealer and can not be held liable so you can sell your car legally without the smog, you also don’t have to tell the seller about any problems. However, how would you fell if someone sold a car like that?

Q: I love my 2000 Honda Odyssey, but recently the “check engine” light has come on and won’t go off. Why?
We’ve asked a couple of mechanics. Some say it’s common and doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Another says it could lead to serious problems. Another says he thinks there was a recall on this. Anyone know?

A: Hey, do what the person says about taking your car to auto zone for a engine check thing. I had the same problem with a 96′ Toyota Camry., took it to the Toyota dealership, and was just about to put it on the rack for $85.00 test. The nice mechanic came & told me, “”hey this is redicilous, to charge you this when you can take it to Auto Zone for free.(this is good) Did what he said, & it was in the fuse box, they had gotten wet during a real heavy rain.(driving through deep run-off) and they were shortening out. I replaced all the fuses for a few bucks & the light went off & stayed off. My neighbor had the same problem, and she took her truck to a Mazda dealership, and they charged her $87.50 and come to find out her gas cap was on crooked, he took the cap off reapplyed it and the light went off. (she didn’t do what I did) cost me about $10.00 her almost $100 after taxes. So I hope it works for you, “”Good Luck”"

Q: Is Honda Civic in 2001 worse than it in other years?
I am about to buy a 2001 Civic EX which has about 60k mileage on it. It is a good deal from good people. However, when I checked Carfax, there were concerns about transmission failure and many other things, about 22 recalls so far.

Is 2001 a bad year for a used Civic? Anybody has more knowledge on it? Thanks a lot!

A: With that many car facts on it I would steer away from it, honda’s and toyota’s are the most recalled cars going.

Q: Car dealership sold me a car without out checking for recalls…?
I bought a used car from a dealership a month and a half ago. Last week i noticed that the passenger air bag was malfunctioning and not activating when passengers were in the seat.

Q: 07 Honda Civic ex back wheel alignment issues?
I have a 07 Honda Civic Ex that has some back wheel alignment problems. The back tires are toeing out and after leaving several messages at my Honda dealer, my boyfriend called them for me. They called him back and left him a message saying that the there is a known problem with the Honda’s and to bring it in. Where would I find any information on that? I already checked for recalls and can not find anything on my honda owner link. Does anyone know what this problem is or if there is a website that could tell me what the deal is?

A: honda has a service bulletin that it sent out to its dealers on the condition

SYMPTOM
The customer may complain of uneven or rapid rear
tire wear, a roaring noise from the rear, or a vibration at
highway speeds.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The combination of the tires and the rear suspension
geometry may cause rapid and uneven rear tire wear.
Tires in an advanced stage of this diagonal or inner
edge wear may cause vibration and/or a bad bearing
type noise.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Install a rear upper control arm kit, replace the flange
bolts and the worn tires and do a four-wheel
alignment.

it should be covered under your warranty

you may be able to get a copy of the bulletin on www.fedworld.com

hope that helps

Q: Reasking a question about problems with our 99 honda civic lx?
I asked this qestion last week and got some helpful answers.

The car is a 99 civic lx. Last week it stalled on my wife, but an engine code did not go on. It started right away. The advice was that it could be an ingition switch which still needs to be replaced on a recall. A mechanic looked at the car and the cleaned the throttle body. He did not think an ignition switch is the problem. He drove the car about 100 miles on errands and it did not stall.

Anyway, the car started to have an irregular idle, going up a couple of hundred rpm, then back down and up again about 3 or 4 times. An engine code went on. I cleared the code to see if it comes back on again and the idle is still wavering. Any suspicions as why the idle is acting up? I am hoping the code comes on so that it can be read. Will the car keep with a check engine code, or should I take it in right away.

All help is appreciated!!

A: get the recall done this prob was every were for the new civics like 2000 up civic start with the free thing first that would be easy.

Q: My 1982 Honda CX500 makes a loud rattling sound coming from the engine, what might be the cause of this?
*NOT a recall since that was only for the ‘78 model.
*NOT the radiator fan since I already checked this.

A: The CX500 is one of the best made by Honda. Many are used in courier service and accumulate six figure miles with little maintenance. The sound you are hearing is likely the water pump, maybe the weakest link in that V twin engine. Have you noticed any coolant leaks behind the engine on the left side? If it’s leaked in the past a trail will remain on the aluminum case there. Does it seem to be making noise from that area? Regarding your other question about an oil leak. Is it possible that it’s coolant, not oil? Oil leaks are very rare in the cx.

Q: What should I do now with this car accident that happened a long time ago?
so here is the story, sorry for being long.

My younger brother and i had just finished shopping at XYZ Mall. We walked to the parking lot, i was the driver, and backed up out of the parking spot i was in. As i was backing up, i had hit a dark blue Honda car. So i walked out of the car and checked the Honda driver to see if she was ok. Seriously, i didnt even check the damage of the car. The lady walked out of the car and i kept asking CONSTANTLY if she was ok. (she was about 35-40 years old) She said she was fine and proceeded to the damage area of her car. The problem was, my brother and i stood outside looking for the damage for about 5 mins because the damage was not bad at all. The only damage was the scrape of paint of the Honda car. It was the size of a dime about. The lady had smooth her hand all over the side of the car to try to find damage for quite a while. But that was it. The dime size paint scrape was all that was.
Now i am getting a summons and complaints from lady claiming I had injured her AND her passenger. Which I recall there were NO passengers in the car with her. It was just the driver. The second complaint was that she had her car hauled out of the parking lot. Which was NOT true because she drove off just fine.

The whole claim is for $8800 dollars.

We still exchange information because I admit it was my fault of hitting her and it was my first incident that ever happened. I know no matter how big or small accidents can be it should get reported. But the first time i just got so nervous I wasnt thinking right i guess. I just figure she seems like a nice lady and that she said she was fine. so we both let it go. But i told her if she needed to fix the little paint job i can be responsible for it. But she said it was ok. but we still exchange info. anyways and she drove off. NOT HAULED OUT.

I know there is a 2 year limitation to this whole thing. The thing is, The letter said the incident was on July 28, 2006. Which was not true because that time, i was going to a university and took public transportation where ever i went and didnt have a car. I had a car before that when i was going to another university because it was further out to get to. On that point, i just want to prove that there was no way for me to have a car to go anywhere on that date and the 2 year limitation has ended perhaps in 2006-2007.

Because it has been so long i had already lost the information of that lady and have no other proven records to prove my side.

Now i dont know what to do, but my insurance is settling for $8800.

I dont have a problem of my insurance company paying out to them, the only problem is that I hate the fact people lie to get the money.

There was no police report taken, no car hauled. No injuries.

However, on the injury i know they can still claim that they have injury afterwards. but still, i want some justice in my case when i know there was NO PASSENGER, NO CAR HAULED out of the parking lot and passed the 2 year limitation, So now what should i do?

A: this is why you should always call the police, so that YOU have some VERIFIABLE record of the date and time the accident took place. And place a cALL to your insurance company as soon as the accident took place, or when YOU have gotten all the information from her (her insurance), that way, that is ANOTHER way to confirm date and time of the accident.

because, now its YOUR word against HERS.

Now, you have a witness (your brother), but that doesn’t always look good.

Always carry a camera with you, including a piece of paper and pen to take down information (this should all go into your emergency kit for your car, which contains flares, water, blanket, some food, road flares, tire guage, and tire inflation/repair kit).

right now, you need to call a lawyer.

Q: How can I report a car problem that car company should recall it?.?
I have a 2003 honda pliot. After 3 years back spoiler broke and front wind shild has 3 crack. I checked one web side and found that more than 15 peoples listed same problems. Honda should recall this cars. In my case warrenty is over. So how I can let the company know thare is problem?.

A: The crack in the winshield is not a warranty issue. Cracks come from rocks and debris hitting it. A single nick can cause a crack to run across your entire winshield. As far as the spoiler breaking, contact a class action attorney that specializes in automotive claims. There’s also bugging honda relentlessly to complain about it. You might run into someone that will just fix it in order to shut you up. Most every problem is eventually reported to car manufactures, so don’t altrustic in having to report it. They probably have known for some time.

Q: My Honda Civic Dies on me?
My 1999 Coupe Civic Dx turns off while I drive. I changed the oil, and the spark plugs checked if any wire was loose and also called Lithia Honda if my car had any recalls. I bought a coolant overflow container but I don’t think it is that. A while ago, the check engine was on and it was a loose spark plug wire but then it still turned off on me while I drove. I think it might be the timer or what makes the car be in idle and stay on because it turns off whenever I stop or change gears. But I do not know can anyone help me?

A: I’d clean the throttle body. Go to your local auto supply and they’ll help find the right stuff. Remove the air cleaner, have an assistant inside the car to hold the gas pedal to the floor (car not running) You’ll see black soot in there. Spray the cleaner in the throttle until it looks clean. Replace the air cleaner, and start the car. That should do it. If not, check for a loose plug wire, or a disconnected or damaged vacuum hose. That should do it…

Q: Where or who do I call for a Honda Accord transmission problem that is out of warranty but has been extended?
My son purchased a 2002 Honda accord last year, it has 93,000 miles on it and the transmission check engine light came on. We looked up the Honda Accords to see if there had been any recalls and we found that on 2002 Honda Accords there was a 100,000 mile extension on transmissions. When we called the dealership in Nashville, TN they asked for the VIN # and said that particular model was not included in the warranty extension. That’s not right, #1 there should not be a specific model for that and #2 I think a transmission should last longer than 93,000 miles especially on a Honda! We are very disappointed! What can we do to check this out and get some assistance on this transmission problem, the dealership told us it would cost $3,000 or more to fix!

A: Okay, I sympthsize with you as I had a similar problem with my 2001 Acura TL, but in my case the transmission failed at 61,000. If the dealer is not helpful, here is what you need to do. With the VIN # in hand, you need to contact Honda USA. They will tell you for sure if you are covered or not on your model year and make and if the “check transmission” light is part of the coverage.. The information is:

They can give you the final answer. I did this on my car and they were able to confirm the problem and armed with that information went back to the dealer who promptly took care of the concern. Good luck with it, hope your VIN is listed.

Q: 2008 Honda Pilot poor gas mileage?
Is anyone else getting poor gas mileage from their 2008 Honda Pilot? The last time I checked my gas mileage after doing city/highway driving, it was about 13 mpg.

The other thing that I noticed is that when I take my foot off of the gas pedal, and let the car go free wheeling, it seems to slow down pretty fast. I had a 2004 Honda Pilot, and I don’t recall it doing that. Has anyone else experienced this?

A: that is indeed BAD. Is it shifting into overdrive?

Q: 2010 Honda Insight VS 2010 Toyota Prius?
I am 17 and as an early graduation present, my parents have agreed to buy me a car. (I attend high school and college at the same time, because of this program I’m in, so please, no one give me mouth about getting a brand new car!)

After I’m done with my community college/high school here, I should receive an AA degree and transfer to a 4-year university. This means I will be away from home and will be driving back and forth a lot, which is one of the reasons why I chose these two hybrid cars.

Both cars look promising, but I’m not sure which one would be best suited for myself. I originally wanted a Prius, but after hearing about the recalls and problems a lot of people have, I’ve been having second thoughts. Things like the brake messing up and problems with the gear shift changing on its own. Plus, a bare-boned Prius comes to about the same price as a fully-loaded Honda Insight.
I checked for problems with the 2010 Insight, but haven’t found many common that should raise any concerns. The Insight is a little bit more compact than the Prius, and I heard was much slower. (but speed isn’t too important to me anyway.)
Both cars seem to have it’s perks and downfalls, but I really cannot decide between them. Which car do you think is a better buy?
I want a car that is fuel-efficient, keeps me safe, and is easy to maneuver. Out of the two, which is better for those needs?

Please no bad mouthing and rude answers. Thank you!

A: The only braking problems that Prius ever had were:

A. If you put in additional floor mats on top of the originals it could get stuck in the accelerator pedal. Even that isn’t a big problem because the Prius (unlike non-hybrid Toyotas) has brake override which stops the acceleration when you firmly press on the brakes.

B. Brake feel. Because hybrids use a combination of regenerative, friction braking, and traction control, it’s possible in certain conditions to feel the transition and to have to adjust your foot pressure on the brakes. Some people complain about this in the same way that people complained about power brakes when they first came out (a number of cars were returned then too but the media and lawyers weren’t as rabid as they are today so there wasn’t the big deal there is now).

The braking problems, other than the floor mats (and cars have been getting floor mats stuck in the pedals ever since there have been floor mats) and pedal feel are:

1. Misidentification with Toyota’s non-hybrid cars. (Many people think that the CHP officer and his family were in a Prius, but they were in a non-hybrid, stupidly overpowered, rental Lexus that may have had mechanical problems before they rented it)

2. Hoaxes (some people with financial problems have claimed problems to get out of paying).

3. Driver error (stepping on the accelerator when they thought they were stepping on the brake).

The Prius has four braking systems:

1. Regenerative.

2. Friction.

3. Engine.

4. Parking.

There is also brake-assist which determines if you are in an emergency stop and supplies extra power to the brakes (a kind of panic mode). You have to really try hard to not be able to stop a Prius.

I don’t know where you got the gear shift changing on it’s own from. This can’t happen because the Prius never changes gears. Heck, it never even goes out of gear. The drive train in the Prius is composed of a simple planetary gear system similar to a differential. Reverse is electric.

A technical look at the “problems” is here: http://www.techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/storm.html

Note that the Insight is in it’s first year of sale so the problems that it might have aren’t known. The older Insight was a totally different car. The Prius was on sale in North America from 2000 to 2010 before any “problems” occurred. Interestingly the “problems” happened during the year the government took over a car company.

- I want a car that is fuel-efficient, keeps me safe, and is easy to maneuver. Out of the two, which is better for those needs?

IMHO, it’s the Prius.

1. It’s more fuel efficient than the Honda.

2. It has advanced safety features such as brake-override, brake-assist, vehicle stability control (vehicle stability control is a system that keeps you from doing doughnuts in slippery conditions if you are going anything like a reasonable speed for the conditiions). Optionally there is radar pre-collision, radar cruise control, and even self-parking.

3. It’s a mid-sized car. There is room for four full-sized adults or you can put a bicycle or two in the back without taking their rear wheels off.

4. It scores four or five star in every crash test category.

5. Toyota has replaced many of the mechanical components with more reliable electronics. For instance there is no alternator, no starter motor, no clutch or fluid coupling (a fluid coupling is the automatic transmission equivalent of a clutch), and the automatic transmission with its hundreds of parts has been replaced with a simple planetary gear system similar to a differential.

6. It has a very high owner satisfaction rating.

I have two, a 2001 and a 2004. They have been trouble free (the media hype notwithstanding) and among the best cars I’ve ever had. It would be really hard for me or my wife to go back to old fashioned cars. The 2004 has 108,000 miles and a lifetime average of 56 mpg according to the logbook that I keep. By year the average mpg for the six complete years has been: 50.8, 52.6, 56.3, 57.3, 59.9, 61.4.

UPDATE:

FWIW, I pay about $420 for 6 months for two Prius through Progressive. It’s hard to get cheaper than that for any car. I’m sure there’s some insurance companies that charge more.

Q: Why does my 94′ Honda Del Sol stall after turning off my engine and then trying to start it soon after?
I drive my manual 94 honda del sol around just fine, but when i turn my engine off and soon after i try to start it, sometimes it doesnt sart. it starts up for like a second and then stalls. i didnt even put it into gear. i would turn the key and crank it and the starter would go but it will not start. then after waiting a few minutes it starts up fine. this gets really frustrating at gas stations and sometimes when i die out. im thinking it might have something to do with my fuel pump but im not really sure. any mechanics out there that can help me or if you just know about cars, please help. any help and suggestions are appreciated. oh yeah, and just to clarify, my car starts up fine in the morning or after a long period of being parked. it only does this when i start up soon after turning off my engine. PLEASE HELP… thanks. oh yeah, and if you can als tell me how i can check if my car has been serviced for any recalls the manufacturer might have on my car. thanks.

A: If people could answer those type of questions over the net, there would be no need for mechanics. It could be hundreds of things causing this. I would use common sense and take it to a reputable repair facility and PAY to have it diagnosed by a PROFESSIONAL. Most shops ONLY charge one hours labor for the diag so for a measily 100.00, you will get an estimate on what is causing this.

Q: Wheels could fall off on 182,000 recalled Honda Civics?
Consumer reports says my Civic is safe but I am concerned.

A: Honda has a Serious Ball Joint Problem–look at the pictures on this link.

http://forums.beyond.ca/st/177937/honda-sucks-come-in-have-a-look-you-wont-believe-what-u-r-driving/

If you think your Civic is safe you are wrong. If you get in an accident with a typical SUV you will not survive. Watch this crash test.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_86RuYXoJA

Q: 1999 Honda Civic shuts off while driving…?
Hi, i have a Honda Civic EX 1999 and while I’m driving on the road, it will sometimes die randomly. My engine shuts off and my tachmeter drops to zero. If i park it to the side and restart it, the engine comes back on like normal. When that happens, my radio works, but my steering wheel and windows don’t work. I have also heard about a recall with 1999 honda civics that have a bad ignition switch that causes this, but im not really sure if its true. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A: My ‘99 Civic has been doing the same thing. It happened the first time about a year ago and the mechanic couldn’t find a problem. It worked fine until a few days ago when it just stalled. At first I had no signals, nor was I able to restart it. It did restart and I took it to my mechanic. He kept it for 2 days and is replacing my ignition switch. There was a recall back in 2002, but I never remember getting any communication about it. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

HTH.

Q: Is it true that you Honda will replace bad struts on 2001 Civics free of charge?
Both of my front struts just went bad and my son found a thread on the internet saying that this is a known issue with 2001 Civics and Honda will replace them free of charge. Can anyone confirm this?

Here is the thread where he found the information:

http://www.civicforums.com/forums/44-suspension-performance/97780-please-read-2k1-suspension-replaced.html

BTW, I just called the Honda service department and they said that there is no recall on them.

Thank you,
Eric

A: If there is no recalls on the front shocks or anything else, then it’s not free. That thread was back in 2003. That’s when the Warranty of the 01 models end. That’s why that guy got it done for free. If you look up the recalls of the 01 civics there is nothing reported about the front shocks.
If you took it to a dealership they will charge you parts and labor to have them replaced.

Q: Honda’s new recall in Canada?
Hi, I am a proud owner of a 2001 Honda Civic sedan, and today I found out that they are recalling the 2001 civics, 2001-2003 accords and some acura models because of the faulty air bags. What do you think of this? Honda has a very good reputation, and I find it very strange that this has happen!

Also, will they fix this free of charge? I dont want to be driving around with faulty airbags that may bust and cause METAL PIECES to fly at you! It’s insane. Is there much work to replace the airbags? Do you have to haul the dash apart?

Thanks!

A: irrespective of what make or model car ,when a recall is made everything is checked and repaired/replaced free of charge it is for the safety of every one world wide , the bags in my honda are in the steering wheel ,and i doubt very much that bits of metal would come loose , the civics are a great car ,the model you have was made in japan , the later models were made in asia ,the japs are covering their good name ,by honouring their cars ,

Q: 2008 honda civic si sedan/coupe opinions ?
im 15 and 3/4, dont think it matters but oh well.
i want to buy an 08 civic si, preferrably a sedan, ofcourse youre
shaking your head at my age and dream car, but eh, i can set my mind on what i want.
of course with todays economy and gas prices, and how itll rise, and how si’s require premium is a nono factor, i was wondering if it would be worth it buying the sedan si and dealing with gas prices.

OR,
buy a used 99′ or 02′ civic, tuning it up [not ricer style, rims, engine, no "i wanna fly my car" spoilers, no back to the future bodystyle, shake my head at those civics]
which i recall thoe using regular.

most likely my situation is if i go for the 99′ or 02′ ill have it when i can drive officially by myself, the stage before the license.
but most likely the si will require me to wait till im 18

opinions?

A: If you’re able to afford the ‘08 Civic SI, by all means buy it! They’re really nice cars, and the “premium only” is really not a factor. In my area, there are a couple of gas stations that sell Premium at the price of Mid-grade on Fridays. Even if there’s no such sale in your area, for the mileage you’ll be getting, an extra 10 cents a gallon won’t be a big deal.

If you can’t afford the new Civic, instead of buying a ‘99-’02 Civic, why not look for an Accord or Prelude in those years? Overall, they’re nicer cars than the Civic, plus they offer bigger motors with more power and great fuel economy. That’s my two cents.

Q: 06 Honda Civic Squeaky Brakes, is the tech to blame?!?
My 06 Honda Civic was bought new and now has 26,000 miles on it and no issues thus far. It was due for an oil change so I took it to a local honda repair-shop. This shop is teamed with a dealership but the dealership moved to a new location. The oil was changed and also a recall was checked out. I leave and the entire way to work my brakes squeak and for the rest of the day. I bring it back, they offer to take it back and then bring me back to see. He says these are new kinds of brakes since asbestos was outlawed. It says there is rust and because the metal is rubbing together it is causing the squeal. I continued that it drives me crazy and I want it fixed. He says it happens all the time and there is no fix for it. Says they can resurface but not guarantee it won’t happen the next day. Says brakes squeal on mercedes “all” the time. What’s going on?! This can’t be normal, it’s brand new and no other civics are doing it. What should i do, I want them to know they’re in the wrong.

A: Your description is somewhat confusing so a few answers to a few questions would help–
1) did the brakes squeek before your took you car into the shop?
2) did they change the brake pads when the car was in the shop as part of the recall or during the service?
3) if they did change the brake pads, what brand of brake pads did they put on?
4) do the brakes squeel all the time or just in the morning or after the car has been sitting a long time?
5) where was the rust? Is it on the rotor?

the statement that ‘they all do it’ and that the composition of the brake pads is responsible for it is inaccurate. They don’t all do it and if rust is responsible the noise would go away after the first time you applied the brakes and scrubbed the rust off the rotors with the brake pads. Go to any Honda dealer and look at the new cars on the lot–they all have surface rust on the rotors yet if you take one off the lot for a road test I guarantee you won’t hear a brake squeek from the car with the rusted rotors.

DO NOT LET THEM MACHINE THE ROTORS!!!!! You’ve only got 26k on the car and machining the rotors will significantly shorten the life of the rotors. Machining the rotors is no “cure” for a squeeling noise, its only done to minimize vibration when braking.

Any additional information you can provide would be helpful

Q: What does the srs code 32-10 mean? Do I have to replace the airbag?
I paid $78 to have honda look at why my SRS light was on. I had it checked and they told me they found error code 32-10 “open in front passenger airbag inflator” I was told that I had to replace my entire airbag at a cost of about $400..Is the airbag system covered under any waranty or recall or anything. The car drives fine and has no other problems and the SRS light goes off for weeks ata atime sometimes. If there was really an open in the system the light would never go out…Help somebody who knows about late model Honda civics PLEASE!!

A: Here’s a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag systems, airbag lights and resetting the system. It shows you the location of the components and the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights after a deployment. Not all vehicles need everything replaced.
You can check to see if your car is listed here.

http://www.airbagsolutions.com/

Airbagsolutions.com also has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong and how to fix it!
Some vehicle manufacturers let you access and reset systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool.
Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer

Here’s the page in this site that tells you which cars need a scan tool and which ones can be done without
I hope I’ve helped you

Q: How reliable are VW Jettas?
I am interested in purchasing a VW Jetta..probably an ‘02 or ‘03. I know they did a recall on one model a couple years ago, but I will look into that. Overall, how is their performance? I have heard they are prone to breakdowns, but I see plenty of them on the roads. Any info. you guys have about them is much appreciated! (how long they last, mileage?)

ps- don’t bother suggesting honda civics or accords. I have looked at those for months and can not find a satisfactory one within my price range.

A: Not really. But there better than a Honda.

Q: 06 Civic squeaky brakes after oil change, tech says “it’s normal, nothing he can do about it.” HELP!
My 06 Honda Civic was bought new and now has 26,000 miles on it and no issues thus far.
A: Tell him you want new front rotors and pads, a full tank of gas and one of those pine tree air fresheners.
